Investing in Gold is Worth the Money

Investing in small gold items like bullion is worth the money. This is because gold is a good hedge against inflation. In 1970s, a gram of gold used to cost RM20 but it has increased drastically to RM130 now for a gram. That is why I opened up a Gold Investment Account (GIA) savings with Public Bank to invest in about 40gm of gold. It is less than RM5,000 and it gives better returns compared to Fixed Deposits at only 2.75% a year. And I paid about RM123 per gram at that time. Money that is invested in gold will surely increase in its value and perhaps beat the inflation.

Now Less Than 50% People Use Internet Explorer

For the first time, the browser share for Microsoft Internet Explorer has fallen below 50%, largely due to the rise and rise of Google Chrome browser which continues to gain popularity every day, attracting millions of users.

StatCounter Global Stats reveal that Microsoft IE fell to 49.87% in September followed by Firefox with 31.5%. Google’s Chrome continues to increase market share at an impressive rate and has more than tripled from 3.69% in September 2009 to 11.54% in September this year.

Eat, Pray, Love

One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia is a 2006 memoir by American author Elizabeth Gilbert. The memoir chronicles the author's trip around the world after her divorce and what she discovered during her travels. The book remained on the New York Times Best Seller list for 187 weeks. According to Metacritic, it has received mostly favored critical reviews.

The movie rights for the memoir were purchased by Columbia Pictures. The film version, which stars American actress Julia Roberts, was released in theaters on Friday, August 13, 2010. Gilbert followed-up this book with the sequel Committed: A Skeptic Makes Peace with Marriage, released through Viking in January 2010. It covered her life after Eat, Pray, Love ends.

Story

At 32 years old, Elizabeth Gilbert was educated and had a home, a husband, and a successful career as a writer. However, she was unhappy in her marriage and often spent the night crying on her bathroom floor. In the midst of an affair, she separated from her husband and initiated a divorce, which he contested. The affair continued for some time but did not work out, leaving her devastated and alone. While writing an article on vacations in Bali, she met a ninth-generation medicine man who told her she would come back and study with him. After finalizing her difficult divorce, she spent the next year traveling. She spent four months in Italy, eating and enjoying life (Eat). She spent four months in India, finding her spirituality (Pray). She ended the year in Bali, Indonesia, looking for "balance" of the two and found love (Love) in the form of a dashing Brazilian factory owner. The trip was paid for in advance from the book deal for Eat Pray Love.

Gold Bullion or Gold Ingots?

I used to think that gold bullion are huge and bulky like gold ingots. When I check some web sites, I noticed that they are actually small like gold coins and are more affordable unlike gold ingots that come in kilograms by the weight. Hence, I got both gold bullion and gold ingots mixed up. Now, with years of experience in blogging and surfing other web sites, I am more educated now with the various terms used. By the way, it is worth your investment to buy gold bullion if you can afford it because gold is a good hedge against inflation. It is better than parking your money in the bank that brings in very low interest rates.

My Mind is Slower Today

I have quotations to type out and calculate the price with more work on the internet but today, my mind is slower due to taking flu medication. Now I am feeling a bit groggy and drowsy - hence my thoughts are not that fast compared to the time when I was well. I should be sleeping or napping but here I am working hard by the computer. I am a workaholic and place work above my health at the moment. Hopefully, the money that I make is sufficient to tide me through my retirement years down the road in several years time.

Down with Flu

Yesterday, after church, I went to see another doctor for the second time for medication for my flu that has been going on for 1 month already. And I have already finished the medication in 4 days for the first visit. Now the other doctor gave me a stronger medication with lozenges to suck and something for my phlegm. It is better now but I am feeling drowsy from the effects of the medicine. Hopefully, in a couple of days time, my flu will be cured and I can enjoy food again like taking cold drinks and fruits.

I Love Gold

I love gold and own a small collection of gold jewellery and a gold coin given by my rich uncle in Singapore who works as a doctor in his clinic somewhere near Tiong Bahru MRT station. The gold coin is about half an ounce in weight bearing the national flower of Singapore. After having kept it for more than 10 years, it is now valuable and a collector's item. You can check out for more gold items in United States Gold Bureau. I have a gold designer's ring, necklace and bracelet all bought with my own savings after working hard all these years. I also own smaller pieces of gold given to me by relatives when I was small.
